VAIL - Have been told that the name is a contraction of MacPhail. That the family originated in Scotland, near Inverary. Moved to England after 1745 and settled in Huntingdonshire. Does anyone out there have similar info? Have found lots of Vail information in U.S.with interesting stories, but nothing on the family in the U.K.
