Trying to find an Essex Clench

Does anyone have a Lawrence Clench in their tree, born about 1734 in Essex who then disappears?
I have Lawrence Clench first appearing as a wedding witness in Fingringhoe Essex in 1762, and marrying in the same parish in 1764.
There is no record of the Clench family in the parish before 1762.
Did he come from further down the coast at Salcott, Wigborough or Maldon?
Any possible connections appreciated.

Hello Nigel.
The name Clench has been Clenche. Clinch. Clynch over the years.Did a bit of searching being as you had no answers as yet.Not sure if this any use but all I could find.

Lawrence Clench. born about 1744. Married. Sarah Baker. 1769.Fingringhoe. Essex.
Sarah born 1748.Essex.The records seem to be closed.
Cannot find the children.will keep trying.

Then we go on to William Lawrence Clench.Married.Amey Quilter. 13.1.1794.
Kelvedon.Nr Colchester.Essex.
Children.Amey.1796. John.1798. Ann.1800.
Susanna 1803.William Lawrence. 1805. All Christened. C.E Parish Church.Kelvedon.

Then we have Lawrence. Clynch. aged 62 yrs.Born about 1829.IRELAND.Bootmaker. Wife Ann, aged 46yrs.Liverpool.Born about 1835.
Son Lawrence. 8. born Liverpool.
Amie. 6yrs. born Liverpool.
James. 3yrs.,born Liverpool.
Sarah Hogg.sister/law.Born Liverpool.
G.F.Smith.Nephew.6yrs.born.Cardiff.Wales.
All residing. Great George Street.Liverpool.Lancs.

Notice the difference in ages of William and Ann.
Do you think This Lawrence could have married twice.?

I have a Lawrence Clench born/baptised 1744 St Andrews Fingringhoe, my 5 x great grandfather.

I know this is an old post but I hope you found what you were looking for

Nigel didn't acknowledge the response in 2007, and has zero posts to his name, so is unlikely still to be a GR member
