If other methods of contact fail, I think ~Lynda~ ( with Wimbledon Avatar at present) might be able to alert her to your search.

Just click on her name - assuming she still has the same registered email address (and is able to access it) she will receive an email from GR to say that you have sent her a message.

She then has to sign in to GR so that she can read the text and reply to it.

This is an example from my email account received a couple of days ago

A free member can reply to messages, but not initiate them unless they have had previous contact. They can open their tree to someone else, but can't see any opened to them.
They can read the boards, but not post.
Build their tree but are not able to access any records

You can check to see if a message has been read by clicking on your 'inbox' summary here in Genes. Unread messages will have an envelope icon next to the title.

Don't expect an instant response - people can be away from their computer, on holiday, seriously ill or have even died. Some have lost interest and never respond, or have forgotten/mislaid their log-in details.

Hi both,

I did think it was a long shot! Haven't yet looked for her tree. She also doesn't leave a full name so not sure how to trace her to get in touch. :(

Hi Maz,

I know this is a long shot because this message is 10 years old and my records are quite patchy still, but I think we might be looking for the same family.

My grandmother was Irene Jennings from Walthamstow. She died young leaving my dad and his older brother and her husband Albert Osborne. Her sons sadly lost touch with her family shortly after her death and remember very little about them.

I know from my research that her parents were Percy Edgar Jennings (born 1888) and Florence E Warrington (born 1889). Percy had 7 siblings (David, Laura, Alice, Albert, Florence, Richard and Valentine) all living together in Poplar and his parents as far as I can tell were Daniel S Jennings and Mary A Jennings. I believe The parents of Daniel S Jennings were William Jennings (Shipwright) and Sarah Emily.

I'm still pulling together all of the records so have a lot of gaps to fill in.

I would be very interested to hear from you and whether we are looking at the same William Jennings.

Hi Maz, I can have a look at Essex for you but it will be a while because I've got a list of people still waiting for look-ups - searching microfiche manually is very slow work. If nobody can offer to search a CD for you to give you the info quickly will you e-mail me with the details please - I'm afraid the thread on GC will be gone before I have done the search for you and I've had two people already who haven't received my e-mails via my "contacts" list. All the best - Vanda
