Jane

Given the date of this thread and the last entry it looks as if it is no longer used.

Plus the original poster has NIL posts against their names so probably not using the site anymore

Hi Di Still only Chadlington searched so a long way to go first up probable marriage of william snr and sarah William Pratt - Sarah Newbury - 19 October 1777 - chadlington by Banns - John Ward and Mary Ward (I am assuming these 2 names are witnesses but it doesn't actually say) -- There was also this marriage that may connect somewhere William Pratt - Elizabeth harris - 14 april 1788 - chadlington by Banns - James Burden and George Farmer --------------------------------------------------------------- 3 april 1831 Ellen 5 may 1833 william 19 april 1835 James 6 sept 1840 Elijah 5 June 1842 Noah The above are all said to be children of William and sarah ( no maiden name given for mother) - Labourer also this record 25 nov 1849 mary parents william and sarah - Lab - pte Bap nov 1837 - rcd - born 29 nov 1837 pte bap is private baptism but what rcd is I can only guess - maybe recorded. I have checked the years 1800 - 1860 for births but have only given you those for william and sarah - there are others for different parents. -------------------------------------------------------------- Chadlington Burials 1800 - 1860 26 april 1813 william Pratt age 59 19 april 1823 elizabeth Pratt age 79 24 nov 1840 Elizah Pratt infant (I think this could be william and sarahs son mentioned above as Elijah - these are transcribed records so spelling mistakes are to be expected) 18 nov 1848 Richard age 56 9 June 1852 William age 71 20 Nov 1852 Sampson age 32 There are still many names there that are probably applicable so keep asking - however can I ask one thing that you keep each request down to one surname at a time as it can get a little confusing otherwise, given time we will get thru them all I am sure - please keep a record of the years covered and where as i cannot possibly do that for everyone and don't want to end up searching the same time again for now its Chadlington 1800 -1860 I have made a quick scan of a couple of other parishes for the other 2 weddings but no joy as yet I expect to hear from you again - if you let me know your email it would be a lot easier to converse that way teresa

Teresa, Could you possibly help with these look-ups following on from the great info you found on my Graftons & Pratts. I have another three children of William & Sarah Pratt nee Keary - William, James & Mary(I didn't know of an Ann, so maybe this is her?) Could you please look for their baptisms? Also, the marriages of William Pratt snr to Sarah??? sometime before 1781 & Henry Keary to Sarah??? sometime before 1780 & George Grafton to Elizabeth??? sometime before 1813 FYI, I found Sarah Keary on LDS IGI (spelt as Kearry) which agreed with your baptism & showed her death as 27 Feb 1790. Also, found Henry Keary (only one r this time) baptism Chadlington 24 Oct 1781 to same parents. Just one more question, sorry, I assume that OTP mean of the parish, am I correct? Once, again, thanks for all the help Di

Teresa, How brilliant, thank you so much, it must have taken you ages to find this lot. It will probably take me a bit longer to check them all out, but from what I know of siblings etc., they definitely seem to be the right ones. I can't thank you enough & will let you know if I think of anything else. Di

Hi Teresa, Thanks for your offer, manna from heaven more like! I have James Grafton b. Churchill c. 1821 & Susannah Pratt b. Churchill c. 1823. I have their marriage cert on Dec 31st 1842 in Chadlington, fathers shown as George Grafton & William Pratt. According to 1841 census, George Grafton b. Oxon c. 1786 (wife Elizabeth c.1786) & William Pratt b. Oxon c. 1786(wife Sarah c.1800), I'm hoping they were also born in the Churchill / Chadlington / Chipping Norton area. If you can find James & Susannahs' births, also anything about their parents, I would appreciate it. If its too hard a job or I haven't given you enough info, please don't worry. Thanks Di

Hi Caroline Firstly let me say that these are Baptism Records not birth records so the workhouse is not needed - I have checked chipping Norton itself but no baptism sorry - that said tho she was born in Chipping she could well have been baptised else where Sorry Cannot help unless you know the exact parish of baptism Teresa

Caroline

Caroline Report 19 Nov 2004 14:04

Teresa According to her birth cert my g-grandmother was born in the Union Workhouse in Chipping Norton 25th Feb 1891. Does your information cover this as well as I have had trouble locating her and the rest of the family on the 1891 census. Her name was Caroline Emily DOUGLAS. Her father was George James DOUGLAS who married a Caroline TAYLOR. They also had another daughter at that time Elizabeth born 1888. TIA Caroline

Teresa I am after the following which may be in Chipping Norton as the name is common there: Joseph BUSBY marriage between 1840-1860 Daughter Lucy Alice BUSBY born 1859-1861 This may be too vague, but I have no more on my Grandmother Lucy Alice. Each census from 1881 has her birthplace in a different location! Many thanks for the kind offer to all Maxine
