Find Ancestors

Hi, I'm trying to find some information on some ancestors from County Mayo, Ireland. Patrick Garratt Married Sarah Cosgrove in 1852, Tipton. I have found tham on the 1861 Census and have a marriage cert. Patrick Garratt's father was Edward Garratt. Sarah's father was James Cosgrove. They are all from Co. Mayo. I am trying to find a death certifcate, or anything else which would be useful can't find it on FreeBMD, Garratt has also been spelt Garity. Thanking you in advance, Zoe Gerrity

Well have you looked to see if these folk are still around on 1871 census before you try to kill them off? How old were they when they married and on the census? What did Patrick do for a living and where are Tipton and Wednesbury? nell

Yes I can only find Patrick Junior in 1881. Even using Soundtex. Had a go at looking for those children born between 1861 and 1871 but no luck so far. Jo

This may be death cert ref for Patrick Snr as the age of 70 would give him a birth year of approx 1831/1832 and Dudley is the reg district for Tipton. I have just come across this thread and noticed that my great grandfather (maternal) John Garrity (b.1863) of Mayo, Ireland whose father was John Garrity also and who married Margaret Connor( b.1870)( great grandmother) may be related to the Garritys above as they lived in Tipton .
I would be very interested if, since 2006 you have any other information

They could be related, have the Garrity's in your tree remained in Tipton or did they move to Stoke-on-Trent or Newcastle-under-Lyme?

Did either of the John Garritys work at the Iron works? Possibly Horseley Ironworks, Tipton?
