Hi Colette
Albert Bennett Powers was my great grandfather. I have not been able to locate him in the 1891 census, or find his parents listed in that census.
My grandmother (Albert Bennett Powers daughter) thought that there was a Scottish connection, but I have never been able to find anything to support this theory.

Hi Jess yes to both the marriage of Father and the marriage of son. Both called Albert Bennett Powers, but father calls himself Bennett Powers on his marriage cert. Albert seniors wife Mary A Elkins no clue as to where they were from, as cannot find them on any census, this is why i am wondering as i cannot find his birth in England & Wales was he Scottish or Irish maybe. Albert sr b c1853 Mary A Elkins b c1860 Do you think they were all at sea in 1891 & 1901 son Albert was in the Navy his record is on the National Archives site...he died in WW1 The person i am trying to help has his Naval record although she never siad were he married in 1906... so its father and son of the same name, yes? if he was a mariner, chances are he was at sea have you found them on 1891 census

Its a long shot looking for a ALBERT BENNETT POWERS B C1853 where thats the question. I have searched GRO births no Albert Powers b 1851-1854. On marriage cert he calls himself Bennett Powers 1883 Lpool. On son Albert Bennett Powers b Gloucester 1884, marriage 1906 hes called Albert Bennett Powers deceased he was a Master Mariner. No trace on census's that i can see, so wondered if he was born in Scotland. Albert Bennetts dads name Thomas an Army Chaplian Can anyone help. ColetteB
