I've not had any luck with Familysearch etc and can only find a William b 1800 in Broad Blunsdon but I think that one stays there til his death. My Ggrandfather, Charles Randell b 17 Jan 1823 has him down on his marriage cert as his father and Elizabeth Randell as his mother. "

Is this the same Charles Randell , and now you've found his parents' names, or is it another one?

I have the mar cert and Charles is listing his father as William Greenaway?
And Mary Ann Townsend's father is Richard Townsend.
In some of the Census, Richard Randell, who I found as having a son, Charles b 1823 but the other children are all born 10 years later???Is living next door to Charles' family.
The William Greenaway I found in Cirencester has a wife Mary and children all born after 1827.

Gina Just letting you know you've cracked it........it's not the easiest system when you're not used to it. The marriage above is certainly the one for the people in 1851, 1861 and 1871........(see Eliza in those) Reg

No, not yet. Iwas trying to get some sort of confirmation that this was the right one and who he was married to. She must have died early as she's not in some census or maybe just not at home. would I need to get his birth cert. first.Gina P.S. am I answering the right way now or still getting threads?

Have you got Charles's marriage cert? That would, at least give you the name and occupation of his father. What exactly are you looking for? Do you need other census returns - ? going backwards or forwards?

The information I have from the 61 census for Charles Randell is ref; R.G.9/1783 charles randell ,head, mar,38 labourer,siddington,gloucester - mary ann wife,42,labourer siddington,glouster. - maria,daughter,11,scholar,ditto - george,son,8 ditto, louisa,daughter,6,ditto - henry,son,3,ditto - john,son,6mts,ditto and on the same page is richard randell head,56 lab,cirencester, deaf - mary,wife,53,wilt,acford.I am assuming that richard is charles' father.On everything else I have, charles is listed as born in Cheltenham . hope this gives more to go on. and a big thank you to all those people who sent me emails with advice.your wonderfull!!!!
