All bmd's are free on Ancestry...have you searched the full records? Bear in mind that registration wasn't compulsory until 1875 You only need the name to search.............. The marriage cert would provide father's name and occupation. Reg

Neil The parents are not on the census with the boy.......... You say you only 'believe' he is your relation...............what leads you to pick out this particular child? What firm info do you have about him? If only his marriage reg'n, then you really do need to buy the cert.........you could waste a lot of time and effort tracing the wrong family entirely, without a basis in fact on which to work. Reg

Wow, your quick of the mark, with the info. Appologies for not posting tidly. Thankyou for your help. The only solid info on John William Calvert is that he married Louisa Calvert not to beleived to be cousins (have Louisa's family tree traced to 1700) His father was also a John Calvert (on John W wedding cert Occ Railwayman, or could be journeyman) John W died 29 Sep 1942 and is burried at Hinderwell 3/10/1942, I have seen the entry in the church records, but no extra info. The grave is unmarked. If i could confirm the Hutton link then I basicly have the family traced as all from the Loftus / Hinderwell area. I know this could be the wrong family and may have wasted loads of time but as this is my last branch to crack on my family tree i have been happy using various means to trace this Calvert family. But untill the 1911 cencus comes out I can not think of any way of finding out. I do not know any of Johns sisters names or brothers the last member of johns Daughter who is in her 80's cannot remember much of her fathers family.

How old was John on his wedding day? And what was his occupation? And his address........we might be able to locate him in 1901, and work backwards......... Reg

John William Calvert, Guisborough, Oct Nov Dec Quarter 1871, 9d 470. Runswick Bay is one of those in-between places so either Whitby or Guisborough could have been used for BMD registrations. If he was registered at Loftus Registry Office (which is the nearest to Runswick Bay and Hinderwell) then it would appear as Guisborough. My grandparents married at Loftus RO and their registration is Guisborough. You can find Runswick Bay on a map just north of Whitby on the North East Coast. Hope this one proves to be your John.
