Trying to find Wake

When I visited the Menin Gate in Ypres, noted that the one example of the surname Wake that I could see came from Northumberland - or, at least, was in a Northumbrian regiment. Does anybody recognise the surname - I always thought we in Cheshire were the only ones! Certainly, I have nearly always known every Wake in the phone book - they're a relation!!
