Onslow Benjamin Phillips is my wife's father. He was born in 1912 in Gosport (in April 2006, he is still alive!). His father (Benjamin Llewelyn Phillips, born 1878, Siston, Gloucestershire. He had a brother John and sister Hannah) was in the Royal Navy during WW1 when his mother (Ada Florence Lear) died in 1917. Ben went to live with his uncle John Lear in Hanham, near Bristol. John Lear was a stonemason. Ben had two brothers, Percy and Leslie, and two sisters, Joyce and Ivy. He has not seen them since his mother died and they went to live with different relatives.
