I am trying to trace my fathers ancestors,I believe he was born in Coventry and that he was illegitimate,he was reared by the Bromwich family of Knowle Warwickshire He served in the Royal Artillery in the first world war and returned to Knowle and married Bertha Reynolds. I believe that his family came from the Coventry area,possibly Jordanwell and they were in the Tea business.I believe that he had an uncle Charles Payne who was deaf and dumb and was born in Knowle, Warwickshire, I have reason to believe that his father was a Matthew Payne of Coventry, Warwickshire.
