Beryl Oliver [27/02/2003] I would be interested to hear from anyone connected with the Lichfield Bird families. I can trace part of my ancestry back to Henry Bird b1787 who, having served with the 95th Rifles in the Peninsula for three years from 1809 to 1811, married one Maria Miles and produced ten sons and one daughter called Maria. The latter married Henry Hands and their only child Henry was my paternal grandfather. Maria was widowed and remarried a widower by the name of Charles Sandland. He died in 1899 and she followed in 1906. At various times the family lived in Stow Street and Littleworth Cottages. At least one of Henry Bird's sons, Thomas b1827, continued to live in Lichfield with his wife Jane and their children. There were at least three sons called William, Henry and John and they also had at least one daughter who married and produced a son named Ted Farmer.
