To Toni Marshall In the 1901 census there is a Charles Brown age 46 living in Pott Shrigley and working as a platelayer on the railway. He has a wife, Mary, age 42, also born in Pott Shrigley. They have 4 sons: Arthur, 19, working as a labourer at a colliery; James, 14, working as an agricultural labourer; Fred, 12 and Hedley, 2. They have 3 daughters: Elizabeth, 10; Ann, 7 and Edith 4. If you go to the 1901 census site http://www.census.pro.gov.uk and do an advanced person search Click on the additional place search button. Enter the civil parish as Pott Shrigley and the surname as Brown and do the search. This gives you a list of all the Browns living in Pott Shrigley. By clicking the right mouse hand button over the name of each person and selecting 'properties' from the menu this gives you a person id for that person. Each person in the same household has a successive person id starting with Charles at 33435407 and ending with Hedley at 33435415.
