Find Ancestors

I am trying to trace my family tree. My father was Eric Saunders, his mother was May Saunders. She was a spiritualist. My father's birth certificate has him marked down as a bastard. I am trying to trace his birth father. I have reason to believe he was not white - perhaps not British - perhaps American. My great grandparents were called Harding. They ran a shop, I think. I have very little information. My father Eric had a brother; Vernon. I believe his father was Horrace Saunders, unlike my father. I am assuming my grandmother May must have been pregnant out of 'wedlock; which would have been a shameful thing in those days. Unfortunately I don't have details of her date of birth or of her husband Horrace. My grandmother, May, later married and Edward (Ted) Ford.
