Member Since: January 2003 Posts: 8 Send Message	Trying desperately to find James Murray Smithson (my great grandfather) born around 1835 in Edinburgh.He was a cabinet maker by trade and came to Manchester by the 1851 census when he lived in lodgings in Newberry Street. He married four times, Sarah Mackintosh, Hannah Whittle, Mary Ann Holland nee Philips who was the mother of my grandad Edward Murray Smithson (1876 - 1952) and lastly in 1881 to Primrose Rodgers. He died in 1882 aged 46 in Salford. His father was William Smithson who died between 1873 and 1881. Can find no trace of his birth in Scotland.
