Rose - I saw "haven't been a member for more than 10 years", but obviously didn't think this thru - something about two short planks springs to mind.

mgnv, hate to correct you but if Melissa isn't a paying member she couldn't have posted :-)

Melissa - As you probably know by now, you can't initiate an exchange of messages as you're not a paying subscriber to GR. However, you can reply.

I am a paying member, and I've just sent you a pm (private message). If you reply to me by pm, I'll forward your pm to Bob - you should include your real email addy so you can communicate directly.

Melissa - send him a message yourself. Just click on his name. If he has the same email address as in 2014 he'll be notified that you are trying to get in contact.
As he never returned to the thread or posted elsewhere, he's unlikely to do so now.

Bob, thank you so much for your message. I was googling HRLD and finally saw your reply tonight! (haven't been a member for more than 10 years)
You've answered so many questions and confirmed some names I had. What's your relationship to this tree? Please message me!

Bob, you have seen that Melissa posted 10 years ago and is probably not checking back now, even if still a member. Try clicking on her name and sending her a Personal message - if she still has the same email address as when she registered with GR they will be able to forward your message to her.

Hi Melissa,

Ten years on so I guess you may have already solved this, but, just in case:

The 'Head' listing is incorrect. the children were left in charge of their aunt Eugenia Maria Logier (1855-1904). She was the sister of Linn Dillon's second wife Mathilda Theodocia Logier (1853-1895). Note Logier not Legier.

The sisters parents were William Henry Logier (1802-1870) and Catherine Louisa Irwin (1813-1859) who married in Londonderry in 1842.

William's father was John Bernard Logier a musician born in Germany see https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Logier,_John_Bernard_(DNB00)

Linn Dillon appears to be a son of William Dillon (1791- ) and Elizabeth Strathie (1796- ) of Glasgow. Through his live he seems to have progressed southwards. He married Eliza Leach (1824-1874) in Runcorn, Cheshire in 1846 and they had two daughters, Mary and Marion. He married 'Theo' Logier in Tunbridge, Kent in 1879 and had four (or more) children with her: Horace, Cora, Linda and Kathleen.

Horace married Mary Amy House in 189. She appears to be the daughter of Francis Thomas House (1838- ) and Fanny Elizabeth Smith (1837- )

Horace and Mary had three (and possibly more) children. Kathleen (1898- ) who married Corris William Evans (1886-1943), a solicitor, in 1919; Linn (1905- ) who married Bessie Pledger (1909- ) in 1930; and Ina who married George Taylor in 1923.

Best wishes

Bob

I'd appreciate any information about Horace Robert Linn Dillon, born 1871 in Greater London. He was a clerk of works, lived in Twickenham and married Mary Amy House, and had a son, Linn Dillon in 1904 (and probably others). 1881 census reads oddly. Any suggestions on the reason for this - parents may have done a runner by the look of it. Or would he be listed head of house even if they were only away on census night? Horace. 9 yrs. Head of house. Born London. Clara., 8. yrs. Born London. Linda. 6. Born Margate. Eugenia Legier. Aunt. 23. from Ireland. living at 6. St. Georges Road. Hastings. Sussex.
