HOLDAWAY FAMILY TREE
The Holdaway Family lived for several generations in Kings Somborne.  After checking through the various census years I have been able to track the family as follows:
Robert Holdaway (b. Abt. 1776) & his wife Rebecca (b. Abt. 1781)
Children:
John Holdaway (b. Abt. 1809 - 1851) married Elizabeth Reeves.
Joseph Holdaway (b. Abt. 1808-1885) married Mary
Children:
William Holdaway (b. 1831-1889) married Sarah Jane Goddard (b. 1837-1919) in 1856.  William and Sarah raised their family in Kings Somborne and immigrated with their children  in 1874 to the village of Ayr, Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co., Ontario, Canada.

Hello Susan,

Sorry not to get back to you sooner. I've just rejoined Genes Reunited.

I've traced my family back to Stephen Holdaway living in KIngs Somborne in the 1700's. It looks like he may have come from Salisbury with his wife Jane (Noyes?). Was your Sarah Holdaway living in or near Kings Somborne?

Hi Susan, you have replied to a very old thread and it is doubtful that Karin is still looking for replies. You can click on her name and send your message that way. If she still has the same email address, she will be notified.

Karin Report 17 May 2004 15:20

I have traced my HOLDAWAY ancestors back to KINGS SOMBORNE in the STOCKBRIDGE DISTRICT of HAMPSHIRE. In 1851 JOHN HOLDAWAY was living at BROOK, on the road to ROMSEY, with his wife Elizabeth, his mother Rebecca and father-in-law George along with several children. I cannot find his parents' marriage or his birth, but he seems to have been born around 1812. One of their daughter's, ELLEN HOLDAWAY, married BENJAMIN ROGERS IN 1844. A granddaughter, ALICE HOLDAWAY, married EMANUEL TATFORD in 1887 and, after being widowed, she married HARRY ARTHUR YOUNG in 1902. Alice had 6 children: ELLEN ALICE (Nell), JESSIE, MAY and GEORGE TATFORD and ANNIE ALICE and LILY FLORENCE YOUNG. I would be very interested if anyone has more information about this HOLDAWAY family.
