MC - love the avatar :-)...reminds me of my youth...everyone I knew of my mother's generation had purple rinsed perms and twin sets....on my 30th birthday I checked my hair was (a) long (b) straight and (c) dark brown ha :-)

I did wonder - without too much delving - whether Margaret Ann is of another generation. Whatever, the post is incoherent (at best).

Should Jacqueline ever return - unlikely I know - have you got the marriage certificate to Lydia Ellen Elford? I suspect William's middle name is not Herbert.

I also think there was a fifth child Alfred W(illiam??) who was born 1922 and died 12923

Looking at the birth years of people in Margaret Ann's tree it would appear an incorrect assumption has been made and it's just a coincidence regarding the man's name in Jacqueline's post.

I would suggest that "try again" should apply to the reading of posts and checking of dates contained therein.

I think what Margaret is saying is that she is a daughter of William Herbert Searle and that Lydia Ellen was not her mother. I am sorry but I do feel the wording is a little abrupt...try again is perhaps not appropriate?

However, a quick look at BMD shows that the William Searle who married Lydia Ellen Elford had a middle initial of A. William H married an Elneida Mellish.

I am trying to find information on my great grandfather William Herbert Searle, he married Lydia Ellen Elford in 1912 in Plympton, Devon. They had four children - Herbert William (known as Bill - my grandfather), Marjorie, Vera & Gwen. My grandfather married Florence Harris (Sis) in December 1936 and lived in Horton, Bucks. They had two children, William & Jeanette. Would be grateful for any information.
