I'm a bit cynical when it comes to the stuff on TV - they make it all look so easy and always gloss over the costs involved - so it's great when normal people who have subscriptions to various sites can willingly help others with their time, their subscriptions and most of all with their amateur expertise or excellence!

To all those who kindly assisted me in establishing contact with my two half-sisters, I say a big thank you. I have now spoken to both of them and we have agreed to meet sometime in the future.

However I would like to specifically thank Flip, who persisted with her assistance which was invaluable to a GR novice, Thanks a lot.

Well done Flip !! I had found her and her mother etc. but did not notice another half sister.

Did anyone send Robert any info on Marilyn or their mother?

Not sure how to check which membership number this was posted under, but she has 2 different membership numbers - maybe search trees and send a message to both?

As Marilyn posted this thread back in 2005, it is doubtful that she will return to it now.

Click on her name and you can send her a personal message. If she is still a member with the same email address, GR will let her know that she has received a message from you.

Have you tried to contact her thru GR as with only one post it is unlikely she will be checking back.

Dear Marilyn, I'm not quite sure how I should start this reply suffice it to say that just yesterday through the offices of After Adoption I discovered my birth name which was Kenneth Ian Power. I was born in Cuckfield on 13th June 1950 and adopted by Marjorie and John Alford who christened me Robert John. Whilst I do believe in coincidences this cannot be a coincidence. I hope you are still monitoring this site as it would be good to establish further contact and learn more about the family.

I am trying to find my half brother. He was born at Cookfield Nr Haywards Heath on 13th June 1950 and given the name Kenneth Ian POWER. He would have been adopted. I have another name of 'Castle Bar' Home for Mothers which is in Sydenham. I'd be grateful for any help. I was born October 1951 so I'm not much younger than he would be!
