I am looking to find information about Florence Marjorie Philpott born 25.10.1912. Florence married Charles Edward Rising on 12 June 1933. They lived in Gorleston, Norfolk. Florence's parents were Eveline Bessie Turner and Frederick Collimore Philpott.

Thank you so so much for the research you did last night, and again today!!

This really is outstanding - my grandma is going to be quite overwhelmed when I share this with her... You might be interested to know why I am looking for details of my great-grandmother, Florence Marjorie Philpott....

My grandma (Florence's daughter) was adopted at approx the age of 4 (in 1938). We know that her father had been caring for her by himself for some time but he was finding this very difficult as a single father; he reluctantly placed a newspaper advertisement seeking a new family for Pamela. We have that advert. My grandma had a very happy childhood and a wonderful relationship with her adopted family.

Charles Rising went on to re-marry and had another daughter. My grandma and her half sister discovered each other only 11 years ago, when my grandma was 70!

We know nothing of my grandma's birth mother - only her name and date of birth, so your research has already increased what we know of her significantly... We have wondered whether Florence re-married - perhaps she met someone else when my grandma was a baby, which led to the breakdown of her marriage with Charles? It may well be that my grandma has more half-siblings, cousins and nieces / nephews - it would be wonderful to try and discover this... We (our family) have tried on occasion to discover what happened to Florence and why she left my grandma. My own son (my grandma's first great-grandchild) is almost one year old and this has prompted me to re-ignite the search for Florence!

This is a lot of information, but I thought you might be interested to know why I responded to the original post!

I would be really interested to know whether Florence had any other children, and also where (if) she might be buried. If you, or any of the other helpers can suggest how I might discover this, I would be very grateful indeed!

Other marriages for Florence in post above (today @ 13:03)

I don't see births of any children from her marriage to William Low.

There are a few Harris / Philpott births, 1958 in Salisbury, and early 1960's in Salisbury, Southampton, and various areas of London, but as Florence would have been 47 when she married Mr Harris, I think they're not very likely to be her children.

Oh, yes! Her second marriage (of the 3) was approx 4 years after my grandma was adopted.
Would it be easy to discover whether Florence had any other children?
