I have come back to Family History and have found out a lot of the above. The person I was looking for (still am) is in S Africa. Mildred Noble married a Leslie Arthur Tippet in Cornwall and they went to S Africa, where she had a daughter about 1930 (Myra or Elizabeth). It would be nice to have contact with that side of my family. |

MILDRED GRACE NOBLE: born 11 July 1907 in S Africa. I am trying to trace relatives of Mildred. She was my g grandfather's sister, both born in S Africa of Cornish stock. Parents were William John Noble and Elizabeth (Bessie) Opie. He was a miner. They both died in their 40's in S Africa and the children were returned to the UK relatives in Cornwall. The son, also William John, stayed in the UK (my maternal grandfather). I believe that Mildred may have returned to S Africa, but am not sure. My mother remembers that during the 1940's the brother received a photo of his sister's child (a daughter we think), but my mother cannot remember where it was posted from. The parents were married in America where they had emigrated, before they moved onto S Africa. The mother had been married before. Her husband died leaving her with a 2 year old daughter, Grace. It seems she stayed in Cornwall with her grandparents so presumably never saw her mum again. Her name would have been Rogers. Anyone have any bells ringing here please? Nicola |
