Frederick, it's better to start a thread of your own really.
First thing I would do is search other members' trees and see who is researching the name - use search box above right.
If you have any specific queries or difficulties in your research, just post them and members here will try to help.

hi
Saw your message a while back, but have only just started with my tree, my nan was Nelly Knopp, sister to Walter, I believe.
I did¬nt know Nelly had so many brothers and a sister, my father was Jack Arthur Knopp, born in 1904.
Arthur Isaac must have been my great grandfather and I have found a Charles Knopp who I think was his father.
Its very interesting.

Walter Knopp was my grandfather he was born in South Ockendon Essex around 1885 to Arthur Isaac and Isabel Mary Knopp. Walter was my mother's father, he married Annie Finlinson, in the early 20th century in Newcastle. He met my grannie when posted to Fenham Barracks with the Durham Light Infantry before WWI. Walter was killed in Belgium on October 13, 1914, leaving his widow with four young children. My Mom was not quit 3 years old when Walter died.
