The history of the Jamaican branch of the Gager family begins in the latter part of the 19th century with the arrival of four Scottish brothers to the island to cultivate sugar. My great-grandfather was Ramsey Gager (one of the brothers) and my grandfather (Push)was born in 1900. The family has since spread out to the US, Canada, England, Germany and other Caribbean islands. I have about forty 1st cousins around the world. One question!! Is Gager traditionally a Scottish name? What are it's earliest origins??
