William Dingle married Jane Barton in Settle, Leics. in 1870. Their first son (also) William (my grandfather) was born in 1877 in Ashfordby, Leics.2nd son, George born 1879 in Felmersham,Beds, 3rd son Joseph born in Maidstone, Kent in 1884. Great grandad was a 'Railway Miner' and moved from area to area. Grandad (William)was an apprentice working on the construction of the Blackwall Tunnel. He also worked on the Greenwich foot tunnel connecting Greenwich with the Isle of Dogs. He designed the repair of said tunnel when it was damaged by a bomb in WW2. William (2) married Emma Jane Kemp from Greenwich and had four sons and three daughters. Charlie, Ted, Frederick (known as John) and William (again)who was my father. Girls were Glad, Nell and Joyce. The only male to have a son was Frederick (John) who he named John - the only one left bearing the name of Dingle in this branch of the family.Further info pls.to [email protected]
