I have been able to trace the Balmforths in my line back to around 1800 with a Jeremiah Balmforth born in Birstall (Batley) who I think was millwright. Most of his successors lived in Calverley (the Rodley area) from 1800 to around 1900 and in the later stages ran a small foundry producing iron and brass mouldings. I have a lot of gaps to fill in and would particularly like to trace anyone who knows of my great-uncle Wilkinson Balmforth born 1885.
