Chapples History My name is Julie Brough (nee Davey). I have just read George Chapples family legend. This is totally true - I was born Davey and traced back to Chapples - My Chapples were from Alphington a village in Devon - who went back to the 'Courtenays' who lived in Okehampton and Powderham and had royal connections not only to the English royal family, but to the whole european royal family. The Courtenays who originated from Courtenay in France - therefore the Norman legend is totally true - and these in turn can be linked to the Vikings (Norwegian and Danish) originated. |

Hi Rose. My ancestor William Davey married Frances Chapple, her ancestors can be traced back to the Courtenays, or De Courtenay, Earls of Devon who lived in Powderham Castle. Julie |
