I am looking for ascendants and descendants of Eleanor Horne (my paternal grandmother) who was possibly born in South Africa and has a sister Mona, still living in Frizington, Cumberland. Her father was a mining engineer. The family lived in the Whitehaven area of Cumberland. I know pitifully little else except that she married a Frederick Smith (yes, I'm having fun with that name too!). Her family apparently came from the Isle of Man and somewhere in the roots is a link to John Peel, the famous huntsman and Fletcher Christian, the infamous mutineer. Where and how these links are I would love to find out. Can anyone help?? |
