My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Emson, my mother felt that this was an unusual name and wasn't sure of the origins of it. The family came from the Leigh Sinton/Alfrick area of Worcestershire, I believe that my mother's grandfather was a cabinet maker, initially prosperous, later falling on harder times. My grandmother died before I was born but I remember some great aunts & uncles-Harry, Arthur & Gladys amongst them I think-My grandmother was Elsie Mary who married Henry Herbert (Bert) Davis-they had five children who survived to adulthood Bert, Marjorie, Gladys Mary (my mother, b.1918), Jim and Jack. Any information would be received with interest, there are no other entries on for this name yet.
