I am looking for any of my Gascoigne relations. It looks possible that an early spelling was "Gascoyne". I am particulary interested in a "John Gascoyne" I have been unable to locate him in the 1881 Census, but found his wife(Jane - born abt 1837 in Bermondsey, Surrey). Also his children (Martha-15yrs, Frederick-8yrs, Thomas-5yrs)were all living at the same address (Woolwich, Kent). There is a family story that John was probably a sailor who died a sea. But I don't know how to find out if this is true.
