Find Ancestors

I am trying to find out about my great-grandfather, Thomas Mostyn. I have been unable to trace a birth certificate for anyone of that name within 5 years of 1850, the approximate year of his birth. he claimed to have been 31 at the 1881 census, and to have been born in sandbach, Cheshire. However, there is no record of his baptism in any parish in the Sandbach/Congleton area of Cheshire, nor is the name Mostyn recorded in that part of Cheshire in the 1851 census. According to the 1881 census, he lived in Back High Street, West Derby, Liverpool, was married to Sarah Ann Mostyn (aged 25, born "Wales")and had two sons, Herbert (aged 4 - my grandfather) and William (aged 10 months). I believe that he may also have had daughters, presumably younger. I would be intersted to hear from anyone with any information about Thomas Mostyn, especially if they are related to him. I am also interested to hear anything about Owen Mostyn, who died in Liverpool in 1912 in his 80s. All Mostyns I am aware of in the Liverpool area, or who were born there, appear to be descendents of Herbert Mostyn. I suspect that Owen Mostyn may be a relative but am unable to prove it.
