I thought fellow Family Tree Makers would be interested in my discovery whilst researching the 1901 Census.I was looking for my Grandmother Ruby Elsey,as she died when i was 26 and a close family,i thought it strange that she was'nt on the Census as i knew all her details, neither were my Great Grandparents.Ruby was born Jan.1900 My Mother remembered that my grandmother had told her she was know as Ruby Murray as a child, this being that my Gt Grandfather was a deserter from the Army during the Boer War 1899-1902 which was an unpopular War and there were numerous deserters who were Pardoned if they enlisted for the First World War.Hence my Gt Grandfather had changed his Family name, but returned to Elsey in later years.Looking again at the Census under Murray i found my Grandmother and her Parents
