Searching for information on Joseph LOWE/LOW, Private, 4th.Bn. 60th. Reg. 1818. Was a soldier presumably on ship taking convicts to Australia. Deserted at Demerary, was charged, and convicted to Life in Australia, 14th. January, 1818. He was 22 Years of age. Gained his Ticket of Leave 18th June, 1830, and married Mary McQueen, native of Hull, aged 19 years, and also a convict. On his records, Joseph was listed as native of Nottingham, with occupation as Groom. I have family records from this time, but would like to know of Joseph's family and life in Nottingham about the early 1800's, and when he joined the army. Our family line has always used LOW as the spelling of our surname. |
