Second time lucky.........

Racking (framing): the finest sedimentation technique to separate tin ore from waste.
Racking frame: large rectangular frame, built on the slant which is used to separate very fine tin particles from fine waste, using running water.

This doesn't explain what a racker did, but seems to imply that it was a mining occupation:

"Minnie Andrews (born in Camborne in 1874[159]), who had begun work as a racker at the age of nine, was believed to have been the last surviving former bal maiden (other than the Geevor pickers), when she died in March 1968.[160].
In 1998 South Crofty, Europe's last operational tin mine, closed, bringing metal mining in Cornwall to an end."

Question now is what was he likely to be racking? The Rackers all seem to be in a farming environment. Have googled but nothing comes up re farming! :-S

It pays to look at other records on any given image for comparison

There are tin miners and wheelwrights on the previous pages, so by no means solely agricultural

Thank you Erika
When considering that earlier I just thought it seemed out of place for a farming community. But what do I know :-(

Comparing with other records on the same sheet, I would say RACKER

????????
A racker works on a production line, generally in a painting or finishing stage. As a racker, you place materials on a rack to set them up for finishing touches. As part of your duties, you may work with materials such as lead, chromium, zinc, and more.

On the 1841 census I am trying to determine Richard's occupation which looks like Packer or Hawker, perhaps Racker? Any ideas please?
He dies in 1850 so only the purchase of the death record might otherwise help.
