William said to be aged 14 y 1m and born in Astley (? Astley in Borough of Wigan, Gr Manchester these days)

Having trawled the 1939 Register, it seems that Byron Street addresses are on a page which is all redacted apart from a couple of names.

There are records for Wordsworth Street, which runs parallel to Byron Street,
then the blacked-out page which is presumably Byron Street,
and then Goldsmith Street, which is on the other side of Byron Street, parallel to it.

This is Doris in 1939.

However, this is on a page of corrections, so I don't know who's with her - can't find the original page (so far):
