There is a death in 1978 of Harold Jenkins born 14th Sept 1907, which FMP links to the 1939 register above, in spite of their having transcribed the birth year as 1922.

Yes, I agree, thanks Kath.

The only way to find out this Harold's parents is to buy the certificate.

I know, this is the one you have given me a lot of help with already, its only a gut feeling but I am now thinking he may be the son of Constance Davies after just seeing his birth entry with MMN Davies. I know its a long shot, but this one really plagues me.

If you have Jenkins in your tree, you should be finding births based on KNOWN parents, then following through from there

The really long thread starts off about the Potters, and then goes on to the Jenkins later on, there was a step family created between the Potters and the Jenkins when my GG Grandfather Thomas James aka James Thomas Potter disappeared.

There are 2, one is huge, will have to do them one at a time, cant get it to hold both of them together in the same link.

Looking at the image on FMP, I'm not even sure 1922 is the correct year. That sticky tape sure makes it difficult to read! I'm thinking that maybe a 17 year old would be more likely to be an apprentice. Did engine firemen serve an apprenticeship?

Can you post a link to your other thread please?

Remember that some men had already enlisted and may not appear on the 1939 register.

Thanks Kath, as always the one you want on the 1939 register has a huge strip of brown sticky stuff over the important bit, IE the date of birth and marital status in this case.

I am assuming he was born in Wales, and did see that birth entry, I wish he had a middle name, it would have made it a bit easier.

This looks like his birth in the correct quarter of 1922 (if he was born in Wales):-

First name(s) HAROLD
Last name JENKINS
Birth year 1922
Birth quarter 3
Registration month -
Mother's maiden name Davies
District Neath
County Glamorganshire
Country Wales
Volume 11A

Record set England & Wales Births 1837-2006

The certificate would name his parents.

How have you worked back to him?

On Findmypast's transcription it says he is single.

Harold Jenkins

I have put a post on here before regarding the Jenkins, but haven't added it to my previous post as I am not sure it is related, just trying to rule it in or out at the moment.

He is stated as married, although from the vague date of birth he was only 17 in 1939 and married.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I have a missing link in my Jenkins line which could lead to solving one of my brick walls.

The reason I have picked this one out is that he was working on the railway, which rings a bell with me, although I cant remember why at the moment.

I do appreciate that the information I have provided here may be a bit vague, but sometimes another pair of eyes sees something else.
