The PM to which I referred earlier - perhaps Dawn will return and give us ALL the info contained in the cert, particularly age, occupation and address

Hi,
I have the marriage certificate and it states that his father was called George Morley too, and that he was deceased at the time of his marriage to my great grandmother in 1912.
Kind regards,
Dawn

I cant thank you all enough for looking for me, it is a dead end at the moment, but I plan to put an article in my local newspaper and hopefully that may give some more information about him after he married Miss Eatson in 1951 approximately (I haven't got my file in front of me with the certificate of marriage).
Thank you all so much, and if you do see anything that relates to George anywhere, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Dawn

This is probably total nonsense, but, a Groom is a Horseman of sorts, and I can't see anything else for this man on the various records I've looked at.

1911 Census For England & Wales
Fenwick's Lane Fulford York, Water Fulford, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (East Riding), England

George Fowler Head Married Male 66 1845 Gardener Domestic Escrick Yorkshire
Margaret Fowler Wife Married Female 64 1847 - Escrick Yorkshire

To echo what others have said - you need the marriage cert.

There's no birth reg in Thirsk

Maybe he lived there for a time so thought that's where he was born

You need the marriage cert for his fathers name

Malyon,

Sprotbrough is a long way from Thirsk. The 1939 register has him born November 1886.
