Contact the local cemetery. The phone number should be on the BT site

In my experience phoning the cemetery requires them to have a digital record. They wont just look up an old paper register. for a name and date.

I have looked at the site that claims it has all Yorkshire records.;-

"These records are part of a project to publish online parish records from the whole of Yorkshire in partnership with the Yorkshire Digitisation Consortium."

But her name does not appear.

and of course a death certificate dosnt show where the burail is made. It may be in a different country.

Assuming she was buried in or near Dewsbury, contact

Cemeteries Office
Huddersfield Crematorium
Fixby Road
Huddersfield
HD2 2JF
Tel: 01484 456999 (opt3)

If they have to research the burial register(s) rather than click a few buttons, there is a charge of £37.

info came from an internet search of Dewsbury cemeteries, Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees. The result was a pdf link - if it works!

She appears to have lived in as a domestic cook, as a widow from around 1914.
and then in later life 1939+ with her brother - George Palfreyman and his wife, up to his death I suppose .
She died in 1959 aged 86, in hospital of a stoke, in Barnsley. But had lived in Upper Sheffield Road for the some time before that.

how about trying to find an obituary or funeral notice in a local newspaper?? That will usually show where the burial or cremation was to take place.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth Report 5 Nov 2018 03:19

How can that be her mother Erika, When she was a Palfreyman and married a Wesley Senior

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Nov 2018 08:24

Elizabeth, when Erika posted, Margaret hadn’t explained that Senior was her married name.

Deaths Mar 1959 (>99%)
SENIOR Lena 86 Dewsbury 2b 462

Age at death 86. Approx year of birth 1873. Without knowledge of the marriage, the 1873 baptism ‘fits’.

Not a mind reader.

I am sorry I didn't give the "full tree" for Lena, I have some details on her parents , grandparents and 9 siblings. and her own marriage and her child.

Just didn't have a burial location for her. as the death cert of course does not show that. (Nor even her own home address as she died in hospital in 1959.).

This is what I wanted, as one of her descendants would like to place a grave marker if possible.

Thank you

Margaret

Not to worry - it was Elizabeth's sarcasm that prompted my response

Hope you manage to track it down Margaret.

Do you know where her husband is buried? If it were a private plot, she might be with him.

If her burial plot turns out to be in a Public Grave, the descendent may not be given permission to place a marker. That's because other people would also have been buried there. There's also the possibility that its been reused in the last few years. Although some plots are purchased in perpetuity, others are leased for a certain number of years.

It doesn't look as though her husband stayed with her for long

Have you contacted the other GR member who has Lena in his tree?

Have you followed-through on Lena's siblings to see if any of their descendants can help?

margaret

margaret Report 5 Nov 2018 12:37

Lena had only one child. Neither ever of them mentioned who the Senior or Palfreyman relatives were.

She features on a couple of trees, but no one know anything about her life After 1930

She lived with her brother and his wife & child in 1939 and for some time later. They died in the 1940's, Their child died in 1973.

I am not really involved in knowing more about them. just where she was buried.

ErikaH Report 5 Nov 2018 13:11

Your best bet - as has already been suggested - is the local newspaper.

And sometimes you have to look at the wider picture..................

I did say Lena's 'siblings' - not offspring

I would ring the cemetery office and ask them about the burial plot. I can't speak for Huddersfield but our local cemetery office are really helpful and will look up any burial if you have even only an approximate date of death. They have never charged a penny for this service and even mark the burial place on a printed cemetery map for you and if the plot isn't marked will give you the name of the nearest headstone and the number of spaces between that and "your" plot.

If you mention to the cemetery that you are thinking of putting a marker there, they may be more helpful.
