Briefly -

Robert Clay of Bonsal a Miller and Executor to Francis Clay of High Moor in the Parish of Alfreton a Farmer declares his goods to be worth under £100 to best of knowledge.

Last will etc of Francis Clay of High Moor, Parish of Crich a Farmer made 15 January 1824.
All Copyhold Estate and Appurtenances gives to son Robert Clay and his heirs as long as he pays out of it to his brother Thomas and sisters Ann, Mary and Elizabeth equally one fifth part of the Estate.
All Real Estate in Parish of Crich to Wife Martha Clay, late Cook alias Martha Crooks in lieu of her Dower during her widowhood so long as she remains chaste and doesn't reside or co-habit with Man so she can support herself and 3 children Francis, George and Sarah. At her death, marriage or Incontinency whichever happens first, then Estate and Appurtenances to my three children Francis, George and Sarah in equal share.

Appoints son Robert Guardian to my wife and children.

Signed etc in presence of witnesses.

25 April 1838 - probate granted to Robert son and Executor.

Testator died 14th March last

Thanks to everyone for your help. I,m particularly interested in his Will. I'm not sure whether a copy still exists as the record is just for the register. If anyone has any advice about locating a copy would be most grateful. Francis Clay of North Wingfield is a cousin I believe. Martha was his second wife.
