When Dorothy MM Fordyce married Douglas Clarke in Sep 1948 in Croydon she is shown Maiden name Fordyce other name Selby:
Family legend has it that she married a Selby during WW2: He was supposed to have been an American service man: The marriage was supposed to have been in Belfast and would have been between 1940 - 1945:
Can find no record of marriage:
If any one can help please:

Which site have you been using?

Using the free search, there is one result for Marriage for the name Dorothy Fordyce 1940-1944 on the GRONI site

https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/go-groni-online

Any further info has to be paid for

Inputting the surname Selby for the same period produces Marriage and Death results

I did try GRONI but I put in Dorothy M M Fordyce and got zero results: I have tried again leaving out the M M and got one result as you say: Dorothy was insistent on using all her initials, but I think that this is worth paying to have a look: Thank you ErikaH

That presumably means the marriage was 1942 or earlier, as the GRONI site will only show marriages more than 75 years ago.

I need to wait another three years or so before I can find my late parents-in-law's marriage!

Found the marriage on GRONI. Selby was a serving in the US armed forces at the time marriage was in 1942:
I got to see the cert for a payment of £2.50
Thank you all who took the time to look at this trying to help, but big thanks to ErikaH who found it on GRONI in the first place:
