From the above probate - 'that' Elsie had a daughter who married in 1936 and was born in 1913 so I can't see it being her.

They were from Lancashire.

Also, it looks like James and Elsie had 4 possible children from 1941 to 1952 so she would have been far too old for this.

There are many Elsie Potters on the 1939 register, but none showing, with or without another initial, in Westmorland.

It could be because either she wasn't born in the area or
she was born after 1916 and she has either died after 1990 or her death after that hasn't been picked up. (The 1939 register was used as the basis for the NHS and was updated to around 1990 but has a 100 year closure without proof of death).

There are a number of Potter families in Westmorland on the 1939 register, but without an age/ Father's name etc............. as per looking for James.

There is the death of an Elsie Bateman 1966 in Westmorland b 1887
Probate record here
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk
and
Elsie Isobel Bateman death 1992 b 1923.
No probate record showing + 2 years

Probably too old - and a bit young - to marry a man born 1912 ish.

She may have moved area or remarried?

You need the marriage certificate.

Marriage has no initials for James, but doesn't necessarily mean he didn't have any.

How do you know he was born in 1912? Age would be as known to the informant. He died Q3 1968 "aged 56" so could have been born late 1911 or 1912 - even if correct age.
