As you are unsure about your facts perhaps you could post a census with the person you know is your Grandad -so we can work back from there. It's a bit of a jump back to the 1840's and beyond to start off the research

Who is the child of Herbert Nightingale from whom you are descended please?

Did Herbert have any other children that you know of?

What part of the Country should we be looking in?

I have had some amazing support from total strangers on this site, giving their time selflessly for free. Thank you.
I am looking for Nightingale, as have hit a dead end an not sure if my end is right. If I start from the top a little, it might make sense more.

My Granddad was Harry Taylor B.1894 - D.1986 approx
His father was Herbert Taylor B.1868 - D. 1918 approx, I believe and was disinherited for marrying a maid, so I heard. By the name of Little (not sure on this)

Herbert's father was William Taylor B. 1825 I believe D. 1908
He married a Louisa Nightingale. So this is what I have on nightingale if the right ones.

I believe Louisa above, that she was one of 9 children to George Nightingale who married Louisa (no surname)
I believe these were the other 8 siblings D.O.Bs of approx
George Nightingale - 1836
Mary Nightingale - 1838
Charles Nightingale - 1841 (could of died at birth) could be twin to William
William Nightingale - 1841 (could of died at birth)
S (no first name) Nightingale - 1842
Eleanor Nightingale - 1845
Julia Nightingale - 1846
H (no first name) Nightingale - 1849

I got the above from 2 census's. But they were free ones.
I have nothing else past this, and not 100% on above.
My granddad is right, and great granddad (apart from Herbert's wife think she was a little)

Any help is much appreciated. There all mostly London/Middlesex area too.
