Thanks for that Rootgatherer But I prefer the personal touch If anyone can help.

No problem George. That link does tell you where the records can be found.

Some of the London Metropolitan Records are available on Ancestry.co.uk . If you don't have a sub for Ancestry your local library may have.

Without names and dates, it would be difficult to offer help on a personal level.

The name I am interested in Maud Charlotte Foster b. Fulham 1897 My info says she was in Fulham Hospital from her birth and also her sister Ellen. Trying to find a date of admittance and where and how and who took them out and how they come to live in Margate. Thanks for your time and interest . I have a thread on here under Charles Foster Wandsworth Cemetry

Nothing showing on FMP George. Sorry I don't have a sub to Ancestry but perhaps someone who does will have a look for you.

rootgatherer Report 15 Feb 2017 11:51

Frederick James Craycraft and Emily Foster nee Craycraft were brother and sister. I don't see them together on any census as they were orphaned in the mid 1860s when their father John and mother Charlotte nee Buckley died. (Burial records on FMP). In 1871 Emily is in the workhouse. Emily's birth was registered in Thanet so it looks like in 1911 her daughters are living in the county where Emily's family were from.

Are you certain that Maude and Ellen lived in Fulham Hospital or could it be that they were born there? It may be that they were there short term as patients. Do you know when their parents died please? Were they orphaned by 1911?

Looking at the above marriage either Charlotte was widowed or Buckley was her stepfather's name

"Thank You Sooo Much" rootgatherer and safc You have given me a lot to think about It. I went to London Metropolitan Archives today and saw The Fulham Hospital Records, Which state Maud Foster was only in for here birth 24/07/1896 and discharged same date. Why she was living with Craycafts, I will check what you have told me and see if I can work it out.
Regards George.

Well done George. Pleased to were able to confirm that the hospital was only the place of birth. I think the girls were with their maternal uncle and his wife in 1911 because their parents had maybe died or perhaps their father had and the mother has remarried. Perhaps we need to find deaths for the parents or a remarriage for the mother. I wonder if either or both the parents are still around in 1911 but just unable to care for the children.
