Not sure what 'absolute from GRO' means- Sally married Thomas 1816?
Certainly looks to be them in the 1851 posted by Chris:

(so was a Marriage ever found for William and Catherine Harris?, if so, when, not seeing)

I have absolute from GRO on Sarah/Sally Basset marriage to Thomas Tippet. 1841 has them with Catherine Basset age 15. I have only baptism for Catherine from Cornwall OPC at Bethsada Chapel, St Columb and marriage William Bosisto and Catherine Harris same place. My reasoning is Catherine must be with a family member. The only William who fits with Catherine Harris is one born St Buryan with a sister Sarah. The India death may be a red herring as the family would never be able to purchase a lieutenancy BUT in the Madras Native Infantry may have allowed an enlisted soldier to be promoted. I do not use any other trees as evidence. The death I still need is the one green leaved on ancestry: William Bisset (variation in several PR entries for Bosisto, as is Basset) wife Catherine, daughter Catherine. All above contributes but most duplicates what I have. Thank you
|
There are loads of William Bosistos! Though none marrying a Catherine as far as I can tell.
I agree with Gins, to help you, we need to know how you got back to these people

Cripes, now I'm confused. It might be an idea to post what you know for 'certain' and have 'absolute' evidence for this family.
I would assume that you have worked your way back from GRO certificates to ensure that you have the correct family/people?
I know that you understand how unreliable other peoples trees are. But REALLY, they are!

So you're looking for death of this William ?(sorry but the thread's a little confusing)
Name: William Strongman Bosisto Gender: Male Baptism Date: 26 Dec 1790 Baptism Place: Helston,Cornwall,England Father: William Bosisto Mother: Elizabeth FHL Film Number: 916939
EDIT: Maybe not- looks like this William had a child with Jane:
Name: Wm Strongman Bosisto Gender: Male Baptism Date: 15 Nov 1812 Baptism Place: Helston,Cornwall,England Father: William Bosisto Mother: Jane
|
This needs unpicking. The last baptism is the correct one. William who married Elizabeth Strongman was the father of Catherine's father. Could there be two India deaths as the ancestry hint (yes, I know, don't trust them, check them) names wife and daughter as Catherine.
|
If Catherine Bassett is 15yrs on the 1841 census, the William who married in 1782 couldn't be her father. Guessing 'that' man would have been born about 1762 which would make him around 70 years old at the time of Catherine' birth!
Also as Jude has pointed out, the marriage that safc posted has the wrong bride (name)
Of course, I could have completely misinterpreted the entire thread!!
This is the girl on the 1841 census

This one lived to a ripe old age:
First name(s) William Last name Bisset Birth year 1807 Death date 03 Jan 1887 Death year 1887 Age 80 Place - Presidency - Archive Reference - Folio - Page - Catalogue Description - Record set British India Office deaths & burials Category Birth, Marriage, Death & Parish Records Subcategory Deaths & burials Collections from Great Britain
he was described as a Lieutenant Col and died of congestion of the lungs.
Edit: There isn't a place of death. The record is just a letter from a surgeon stating he had attened LT Col William Bisset and his cause of death; the letter has the address The Grange, Guernsey.
EDIT: I guess this one is born to late to be your man! Only just re-read thread and saw the date of his marriage.

What year does it have for that Death in India then, any idea?...

That is Sarah Basset's marriage. She was a 'right one'. Gave birth to first child in Launceston jail!

That would fit with her age but not seen the Susan. Green leaves on ancestry are like tea leaves - interpretation is varied! The one does have all three names William wife Catherine and child Catherine. That's why date would help me with family links to my ggg. Thanks Anita
