Had a pm from Barbara:

James Kelly (born) 1840 was the son of Janes and Mary who's are noted as deceased on his marriage certificate in 1860. He didn't appear to be Catholic so I don't think your family are the right one. Thank you for replying. Barbara

Morning Barbara,

It's easier if you add replies to the thread by using the 'Add your reply' box at the bottom of this page. That way everyone can see all the information and offer more help.

There are a number of James Kelly's (born in Ireland 1840 +/- 2 years) in Scotland on the 1861 census. Most, but not all, are single and lodgers.

Do you have him pinpointed in any census?

Unfortunately it's only on the Scotland's people website where you can see original census information, which may show an actual place of birth rather than just Ireland. It may also show him with relatives.

SP is a buy credit website if you're not already familiar with it.

can anyone help me find a James Kelly, son of James Kelly and Mary McConnell of Ireland. He was born in 1840 and moved to Scotland sometime before 1860. Thank you, Barbara
