Death of Harriett Barker (nee Healey)

I am struggling to find a death for Harriett, who was born 18 Mar 1879. Her birth was reg'd in Nottingham under her mothers name Healey, but she came from Lincolnshire, and married Thomas Perkins back in Lincolnshire only a few weeks later. Harriet was brought up as Perkins. She married Frank Barker and moved to Claypole, Lincolnshire, where the family appears on both the 1911 census and the 1939 Reg. Frank died in 1946 and is buried at Claypole (entry in Parish Register traced) . I cannot find a death regn for Harriett under Barker or variants, and have also looked for a possible 2nd marriage and come up blank on both. Can anyone help?

Thanks Maddie, I don't think this is likely to be her, it seems to relate to a burial in Kirmington. The family have no apparent connection with that area, e.g none of her children migrated to this neck of the woods, but if no other alternatives pop up it may be worth looking at this one.

Have you checked in the areas where her children were living?

I suspect she moved. Frank died at Virginia Cottage- there are several mentions in the paper.

According to a couple of later small articles, Mr and Mrs George H Ireland were living there from 1949. George died in 1952 and Harriet isn't listed as one of the mourners.

It is unlikely Harriet remarried- as her new married name would appear on the 1939 register as it was updated to reflect changes up until 1991.

Just looking at a tree on Ancestry- don't know how accurate it is but based on the areas they have for the deaths of her children, have you considered this death for Harriet:

First name(s) HARRIET
Last name BARKER
Gender Female
Birth year 1879
Age 81
Death quarter 3
Death year 1960
District WARWICK
County Warwickshire
Volume 9C Page 921

Apparently her daughter Edna Frances died in Warwick in 1970

Thanks Austin I had forgotten about the updating of the 1939 Reg for further marriages. You may have hit on a good candidate for the death, I had found Edna Frances on the 1939 Reg living with her older sister in Newark - occupation nurse. I suspect sight of the death cert may be needed to confirm whether it is the right one.

As a once qualified district nurse I'd think Edna would have been an ideal candidate to care for Harriet. - Perhaps Edna's son, Bruce, could confirm?

Austin - Having just repeated my earlier freeBMD search for Harriett across the whole country, the death regn at Warwick doesn't come up , even on a phonetic search. I had thought a phonetic search applied to both forename and surname, but apparently not, the entry only comes up if Harriet with a single t is entered in the first name field. This doesn't explain why I found nothing on FMP either, despite ticking variants on both forename & surname - oh well at least the Warwick entry came up on your search - as a matter of interest where did you find it?

Julie

I never use phonetic search on Freebmd

I find it much easier to use the wild card symbol *

so I would put H*

or Harri*

or (most often) Harriet* and bark*

Nice find Gwyn- confirms the 1960 Warwick death is the correct one.

Harriett's daughter Eleanor was married to George Beecham and on the 1939 register is living at 17 Hatton Gardens, Newark.

Austin & Gwyn, many thanks for tracking down the details that have solved the mystery of what happened to Harriett. Just annoyed with myself that these didn't turn up on my own searches, but message to self that freeBMD searches may not throw up a match if the first name spelling differs slightly.
