1958 electoral roll

Name: Elizabeth Margaret Gruner
Gender: Female
Electoral Year: 1958
State: Northern Territory
District: Batchelor
Country: Australia

living with (hard to read) Zdenck or Zdenek Gruner,

in 1972 Zdenek, physicist, is in Randwick, NSW, not with Elizabeth.

That is also the case in 1968, he is alone on the electoral roll.

Possibly by then she was living with someone else and is recorded under that partner's surname.

Best advice is to get the death notice which will hopefully show family info.

Ryerson Index has:
http://ryersonindex.net/search.php

GRUNER Zdenek (Dan) (Stan)
Death notice 02MAY2012
Death 89
at Wesley Private Hospital, late of Taringa, formerly of Indooroopilly and Randwick
Sydney Morning Herald 15MAY2012

Aha, someone has Zdenek in a tree at this site:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/tree/results/gruner/zdenek

if you do a search there for surname Gruner born in Australia, the same member has several (living) people with that name in his tree.

probably one of those people is in this list in the white pages (the last one)

https://www.whitepages.com.au/residential/results?name=gruner&location=Nationally&al=0

Probably someone needs to PM Dorte about how to use the boards ...

An alternative to requesting Ryerson for a look-up is the State Library

Was your husband adopted?

Several years ago a now lapsed member from Australia was trying to find her husband's birth relatives. They had considerable success with the state adoption service. Has your husband explored that route? At the very least they'd be able to say when she died.

You'll be aware, as do we, that BMD in Australia have a long closure to protect the privacy of the living. Assuming she married after your husband's birth, it's unlikely that we'll be able to access the records. Even if they were available, we'd strongly recommend an intermediary is used to contact any surviving relatives. She may not have told them about your husband.

You could use the Search All Members Trees facility - top right under search. If anyone lists Elizabeth, send the tree owner a message. Make sure that both your husband & his birth mother's name is on your own tree.

Lastly, even if you allow your subscription to expire, do not delete your account. Someone could find this thread in an internet search in a couple of years time. They could still contact you be clicking on your name. For that reason you should ensure that email address linked to your Genes account is the one you normally use.

Hi, my husband only recently discovered that his birth mother's name was Elizabeth Margaret Keating. She was born in Toowoomba, Queensland in 1922. In 1951 she lived in Chatswood, a suburb in Sydney where she gave birth to a boy she named Richard Ashley. We have never been able to find out what happened to Elizabeth Msrgaret. I have not been able to trace her. She may have died in 1976. Has anyone come across her? Any inf would be greatly appreciated. Dorte
