09 February 1860 - Nottinghamshire Guardian - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire

Burton Joyce. Burglary.— Daniel Parker and James Pilkington, two old men, were charged with burglariously entering the house of Mr. Richard Thorpe, publican, of Burton Joyce, on the night of Friday, the 27th ult Prisoners were found in possession of a crow bar, which apparently had been used in forcing an entrance to the house through the window. A silver sugar bowl and a large quantity of bacon had been carried away. The case was dismissed, a second charge was then preferred against Parker, for stealing some sacks, the properties of various persons. He was remanded till Wednesday.

Hi Sylvia,

To answer your question " He was a labourer on James baptism in 1846 and on the 1851 ??????????" Butcher's was the family trade but when they wasn't doing that they were labourer's, I think after Jame's father James died in 1831 the butchering went down hill for them.

James brother William was a Schoolmaster on his children's christenings and 1841 census but by 1851 he was a Seller Of Hot Wheat.
