Have your got her death cert

You could try the parks and cemeteries dept of the local council giving them the details from the cert . For that time it would be a council owned cemetery or crematorium

They may make a charge to do a search but their records are usually excellent

There is a website for Manchester burial records but, unfortunately, she is not on it !

http://www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk/

Do you have her death cert - the details 'may' be useful, especially if she died in hospital, or in a care home or the informant on there may be contactable?

Are you sure that she actually died in Manchester or maybe her death was just registered there? ( I live in Leicestershire but when my brother died in Manchester I registered it via my local register office so his death would appear to be in Leicestershire to anyone looking it up in the future).

It looks as though they had 6 children - would one of them not know?

Are you in contact with any of them?

I was just looking for that Austin - you beat me to it ;-)

Perhaps there is something written in her will about her burial wishes?? It would be worthwhile getting a copy?

John died in 1967 - reg. in Blackpool:

Deaths Sep 1967 (>99%)
Lawrie John F 81 Blackpool 10b 464

Births Jun 1886 (>99%)
LAWRIE John Forbes Rochdale 8c 55 (numbers may be incorrectly transcribed? - It looks to me like 8e 56 )

This is from 1939 census and shows her date of birth which might be useful in your search? (although I have found them sometimes not to be correct !)

Is there a parental family plot or a child buried elsewhere? One of ours lived her later years and died in Berkshire. Her body was returned to Kent for burial.

If she was cremated, her ashes could have been buried or scattered anywhere. Even if she was buried, it could have been in a communial plot or if in a single one, there's no marker. With the lack of space, plots have been known to be reused by 'strangers'.

Sorry to appear negative. Visitors to the UK sometimes don't realise how situations can differ from their home country. Hope you manage to find some sort of record, & closure.

Hi everyone thanks for your help I don't have her death certificate I have tried all the known cemeteries and crematoriums that the Manchester council supplied me also tried crowton where her parents and a sister are buried she actually died at home 122 Church lane from there it is a mystery all her family members have passed away I am the oldest member of the family left. My Aunty Jean Laurie Lawrie recently died and her wish was to have her ashes scattered with her mother that is why I have intentions to return to the UK to comply with her wishes.
Once a again thank you for your suggestions

Have you tried looking for an obituary for her in a local paper, that would usually state where the funeral was to be held.

Try the main library for Manchester, or the Local Archives and Study Centre to start with to see if they have any newspapers on file that might contain an obituary for her ........

give them her full name and address, date of her death PLUS 2-4 weeks

and see if they can come up with anything.
