Just as a matter of interest, military record states he had:-
Complextion:- Fresh
Hair:- Black
Eyes:- Hazel
Height:- 5' 51/2"

Just had another look at military record and it is taken from

Canada, British Army Regimental Rolls of Non-commissioned Officers and Soldiers, 1806-1892 for Henry Chad Swallow

written underneath is this

(Volume 15-20) 39th Foot, 40th Foot, 65th Foot, 74th Foot, 84th Foot

so it would seem he served with one of above.

yes I noticed on 1851 he was noted as a performer, which does seem to show that military record is him.

Catherine the source that he was a gymnastic artist is correct... as part of the military record
