Thanks for replies - in the 1911 census, a John Baker with wife Maude? were living in sussex and fostering my childrens grandmother Muriel Russell and her brother william.
Have tried to find if Maude? was a relative- have been unable to find any Maude marrying a John Baker(they had been married ,what I thought said 3 yrs,but could have been 5 !906. I then looked for a Maude- which then lead me to Matilda marrying a John Baker, but cannot find her in census!
